A cockroach was crawling around a man's ear canal for THREE days before it was finally killed off.
He spent hours trying to scoop out the invader including using tooth picks and tweezers.
In desperation the 60-year-old repeatedly doused the bug with pesticide until it stopped moving - but its carcass remained wedged in his canal.
The Chengdu Economic Daily reported that a cockroach crawled into his ear on February 1.
His ear then became swollen from the external irritation and chemicals from the pesticide and he was forced to go to hospital.
Surgeons were forced to perform an operation to remove the 1cm-long pest.
A doctor at the hospital explained that cockroaches seek warm places to shelter in winter and human ears ticked most boxes on the list of desirable qualities for its habitat.
The doctor advised that when a cockroach crawled into an ear, the best solution was the to flood the ear with clean oil, which is more effective than water in smothering the insects.It comes just days after 19-year-old Mr Li discovered he had an entire family of the bugs in his ear.
Not only was there a big mummy cockroach taking up residence in his ear canal, but she had spawned 25 little baby roaches.
He had gone to hospital after his ear became itchy and painful.
